Cattle Drives:

When we take guests on cattle drives a great deal more supervision is required to keep everything safe and in control and to make sure we do not lose someone. It is a vast area and unless a guest is experienced there are ample chances for them to get lost or hung up. We do not nanny anyone but because of the additional labor and attention involved to keep track of everyone and keep them safe, we charge $175.00 per day for each person who participates in the cattle drive.

We express the situation this way because it is not untypical that a group will want to do a three or four day gather but one or more of the people may decide that after the first day they would like to hang back. The most common reason is that even for people in good physical condition, several or up to a twelve hour ride may require flexibility that not everyone has. After the first day that person may want to go to the hot springs, explore or just sleep. We do not encourage anyone to do more or less than they are comfortable with. Our goal is to get the work done, make sure that the guests have a good time, and go home with great memories and no injuries.

There may be a few occasions of adrenaline rush but we do our best to keep that under as much control as possible. Some people can ride every day for a week and ask for more. Some people ride every other day or less. It really depends on the individual and their own physical and mental situation. The bottom line is that in our remote and self sustaining part of the world there is never a reason to push someone past their comfort level and to expose them to danger. We would much prefer to give up income than see anyone risk injury or discomfort in order to keep a schedule or try to just keep up.
